“I simply love the progress this anesthesia department has made. It is amazing, and I am proud to have had a part in helping them achieve this goal. They are an inspiration.” – Suzanne Brown, CRNA, volunteer and former project director for HVO’s anesthesia project in Siem Reap, Cambodia
“If there are people who are thousands of kilometers away from me who are concerned about the skin health of my people, then I am also encouraged to move on and do something.” – Dr. Leo Odongo, Dermatologist, Uganda
“So far this has been an amazing and incredible experience for [the] Dental School of Dhulikhel Hospital. The HVO volunteers are extremely helpful and goal-oriented. My staff are more motivated to work as a team.” – Dr. Dashrath Kafle, on-site coordinator for HVO’s oral health project in Kathmandu, Nepal
Whether working with anesthesia providers in Cambodia, supporting a dermatologist in Uganda, or mentoring oral health providers in Nepal, HVO volunteers work to ensure better access to skilled, safe, and compassionate care for patients across the globe through the education of the local health workforce in resource-scarce countries.
Our volunteers and supporters envision a world where everyone, everywhere has access to quality health care. We will achieve this vision by working together to invest in the education and professional development of health workers in the countries where care is inaccessible to those in need. By training providers who in turn deliver more and better care to their communities, we create a legacy of care.
This year, we ask that you join us in building this legacy. Support our work and make a lasting impact by:

As humanity faces new and evolving global health threats, we must accelerate the exchange of knowledge between practicing providers, and support those in-training to ensure that all communities have access to timely and effective health services. Our work is urgent, necessitating strong and equitable partnerships, dedicated teachers and students, fearless leaders, informative research, continuous innovation – and committed supporters.
