HVO Reopening Update

Health Volunteers Overseas is closely monitoring the situation caused by the global outbreak of COVID-19. HVO project sites are temporarily suspending placement of volunteers thru May 31st.

Health Volunteers Overseas has begun reopening! As we get confirmation that travel restrictions are lifted and our partners are ready to host, we are once again scheduling volunteer trips abroad for many of our projects. While we are eager to return to business as usual, we must be conscious of the safety of our volunteers and the needs of our partners. Not all projects will reopen immediately, so please continue to be patient if your preferred site is not among the first available.

E-volunteering opportunities will continue across HVO sites. Please contact an HVO Recruitment Specialist for details. Click here to find the appropriate contact.

Our guidance concerning project suspensions is based on host country government policies, as well as advisories from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the US State Department and the World Health Organization. In addition, we must consider issues related to obtaining visas, international travel arrangements and the readiness of our partners to once again welcome volunteers.

If you have specific questions, concerns, or training needs related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, please send them to info@hvousa.org.
