HVO Launches Internal Medicine Project in Collaboration with Lumbini Medical College in Nepal

Lumbini Medical College (LMC) is seeking volunteers from HVO’s internal medicine program to assist with clinical and didactic training of medical students, and to help establish patient education programs in schools and communities that target lifestyle modifications to improve health.

Founded in 2006, with a goal to gain global recognition as a “leading professionally driven medical and research institute,” LMC trains students in the fields of medicine, dentistry, midwifery, and nursing. After completing LMC’s nine semester medical school program, students begin a one-year internship, which includes rotations in internal medicine like surgery, gynecology/obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatry, anesthesiology, and dermatology.

LMC is located in Tansen, a town in the Palpa district in western Nepal. Tansen is known for its scenic beauty and temperate climate. The college is seeking volunteers who are board certified internists with several years of experience to complete assignments of three to four weeks at the site. More information about this and other internal medicine projects can be found on our internal medicine program page.
